Residence Koya

Residential | Dubai, UAE | July, 2024

“Koya” is inspired by Koya-san, a serene mountain town in Japan known for its monastic stillness and refined simplicity—a reference to the project’s quiet spatial rhythm and emphasis on elemental materials.

Composed contrasts in a calm, architectural shell.
Residence Koya explores spatial flow, tonal balance, and material depth - crafted for a lifestyle that values clarity over clutter and refinement without excess.

Set within an urban context, Residence Koya is designed as a private interior landscape - quietly confident and deeply considered. The space unfolds through a series of textural layers: brushed oak, soft limestone, matte upholstery, and patterned drapery that adds just enough tension to the calm. Volumes are defined without harsh boundaries. Light circulates freely through sheer planes and arched thresholds, softening the structural clarity of the space. A subdued palette of mineral tones and natural finishes creates cohesion across zones, while sculptural furniture introduces rhythm without noise. The living spaces focus on proportion and tone - nothing ornamental, but never plain. Details are controlled and intentional, from integrated storage solutions to floating lighting elements that align with the architectural language. In the bedroom, the material story continues - structured, quiet, and tactile. Upholstered forms, custom side tables, and soft flooring choices shape an atmosphere of understated luxury, with each object contributing to a coherent visual system. Residence Koya is not decorative - it’s designed. Minimal in appearance, rich in nuance, and built to stand the test of time.
